Euromak Kontrol: Enhancing Energy Efficiency in Laboratory Services

02.05.2025

While promoting the EENergy, the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research was approached by Euromak Kontrol, a long-standing company seeking guidance on how to make its operations more energy efficient. Established in 1999 and based in Skopje, Euromak Kontrol is a specialized provider of laboratory testing, quality control, and consulting services, with a reputation for technical excellence and compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards. Although deeply committed to service quality, the company recognized that its laboratory facilities were increasingly energy-intensive, leading to higher operational costs and a need for long-term sustainability strategies. Despite their strong commitment to service quality, Euromak Kontrol faced a challenge in defining a structured energy optimization plan. They lacked the internal resources and expertise to assess their energy consumption effectively, explore investment opportunities in renewable energy, and develop the necessary internal training to enhance employee awareness around energy efficiency. Foundation for Management and Industrial Research stepped in to deliver a tailored sustainability assessment and helped shape a comprehensive action plan, which later formed the basis of Euromak Kontrol’s successful application to the EENergy grant. To ensure the application met all procedural and technical requirements, Foundation for Management and Industrial Research collaborated with the Cluster Mechatronics and Automation (CMA), the EENergy consortium partner from Bulgaria. Thanks to this coordinated effort, Euromak Kontrol secured a grant and took concrete steps toward reducing energy consumption—demonstrating how timely, targeted support from EEN can drive meaningful transformation.

Euromak Kontrol’s path toward improved energy efficiency began with a strategic collaboration with the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research. Working closely with the company, the Foundation’s sustainability advisor provided structured and practical guidance, tailored to fit the realities of Euromak Kontrol’s operations. The advisor collaborated with the company’s team to understand its operational context and existing energy practices. This phase offered valuable insight into general energy use patterns and highlighted areas where efficiency could be improved. Building on this understanding, the advisor helped develop a tailored sustainability action plan—outlining realistic, actionable steps to reduce energy consumption while aligning with both daily operations and long-term goals. A key part of the engagement was supporting Euromak Kontrol through the EENergy call application process with additional guidance from the CMA advisor. As a result, Euromak Kontrol successfully secured the grant, gaining vital resources to implement its sustainability initiatives. Beyond funding, the collaboration demonstrated the value of targeted, expert support grounded in operational realities—and laid a foundation for continuous improvement in energy performance amid evolving market and regulatory demands.

Euromak Kontrol is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability with the support of the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, which assisted in preparing and securing funding through the EENergy grant. The company is set to launch a sustainability plan that integrates renewable energy investments, thorough energy audits, and targeted employee training. These initiatives will not only drive significant energy savings but also enhance overall operational performance. At the core of this strategy are strategic investments in renewable energy technologies. Euromak Kontrol is committed to reducing its energy consumption, investing in photovoltaics, expected to achieve at least 5% improvement in energy efficiency. In addition to these investments, the company will conduct a comprehensive energy audit to identify further opportunities for optimization, ensuring that energy use is maximized while minimizing waste. Equally important is the company’s focus on empowering its workforce. A key component of the initiative is a specialized training program designed to develop energy management skills among employees. This program will equip staff with practical energy-saving strategies and introduce them to innovative renewable energy solutions, fostering a culture of sustainability within the organization. Through these efforts, Euromak Kontrol is not only improving its energy performance but also positioning itself as a leader in sustainability. This forward-thinking approach paves the way for future collaborations with industry partners and strengthens the company’s competitive edge in an increasingly eco-conscious market.
